NAAC is pleased to be part of a video on diversifying the educator workforce recently published by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Innovation and Improvement as a highlight of the May 2017 Summit on Teacher Quality. Effective teacher recruitment, preparation, and retention were some of the many critical issues discussed by education leaders from across the country at the Summit.
This video helps bring to light the research on the positive impact of matching minority students with same race teachers, and the reasons alternative certification programs are successful at recruiting and retaining minority candidates.
The video incorporates comments and slides from NAAC Executive Director Judy Corcillo‘s breakout presentation on Effective Recruitment and Retention Strategies through Partnerships, presented with Belinda Gimbert, Frank Livoy, and Robert Grey.
